This list will inspire you to start your Pinterest album, as you begin to dream of the luxury vacation of a lifetime.
Embarking on a journey to explore the world is a dream cherished by many. From pristine beaches to bustling cities, our planet is adorned with extraordinary places that promise unique experiences. I think you should plan on having as many stamps in your passport as possible in your lifetime.
First on your Itinerary: Barcelona, Spain
I absolutely love Spain! Barcelona is a fabulous city and is a must on your international travel bucket list.
Barcelona and the areas surrounding it offer so much to explore and experience. From the food and wine to the beautiful churches and history, your days can be filled with these experiences. Barcelona, a city synonymous with architectural wonders, invites travelers to explore the masterpieces of Antoni Gaudí. The surreal Sagrada Familia, the whimsical Park Güell, and the Casa Batlló highlight Gaudí's genius and contribute to the city's unique charm. Stroll down La Rambla, indulge in delectable tapas, and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of this Catalonian gem. From Barcelona, you can also use the train to see and stay at the beaches or depart and see all of Spain and Portugal or take a Mediterranean cruise. I have done both types of vacations, returning so fulfilled, relaxed and so thankful for these opportunities. Both dream vacations were unique and exciting.
Next stop: Tromsø, Norway
Tromsø, nestled in the Arctic Circle, is a prime destination for witnessing the ethereal beauty of the Northern Lights. The dancing colors of the Aurora Borealis illuminate the polar night, creating a magical spectacle. Embrace the winter wonderland with activities like dog sledding and snowmobiling, and do not forget to savor the local cuisine while enjoying the Arctic ambiance.
Now, if you do not want to travel when it is cold, and believe me, I do not blame you, there are plenty of options during the summer. It is cool at night. Because you are traveling far, there are an abundant of other sights to see throughout Norway. I recently helped a couple celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. For a truly breathtaking experience, you want to travel throughout the country. Spend time seeing the fjords, waterfalls, and costal villages. Travel over their lakes, trains and a unique funicular train that takes you up the mountainside. You will experience unforgettable views, extraordinary experiences, and the ultimate bucket list destination.
Next on the itinerary: Kyoto, Japan
Immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of Kyoto, Japan's former imperial capital. Adorned with historic temples, traditional tea houses, and enchanting gardens, Kyoto offers a glimpse into Japan's past. Explore the iconic Fushimi Inari Shrine with its thousands of vibrant torii gates, participate in a traditional tea ceremony, and wander through the serene bamboo groves of Arashiyama. Of course, you are not going to travel that distance for one city.
The additional must-see destinations while in Japan include Tokyo, Osaka, and Hakone. One of the classic images of Japan is the red shrine gates floating on the water with Mt. Fuji in the background. This is the Hakone Shrine, that you have a chance to see today, a place of history, culture, and tradition. Be prepared to indulge your taste buds in an array of
delightful Japanese delicacies and specialties. Each area of Japan will have similarities but also some unique cuisine for that region. I love experiencing a destination through the five senses. Two suggestions to put on your itinerary include participating in hands on classes to include how to make sushi. Another is to experience saki with a saki tasting.
Stamp your passport: Lisbon, Portugal
Indulging in the lap of luxury while exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Portugal is a sublime experience that combines opulence with the charm of this captivating European destination. Portugal, with its rich history and diverse cultural tapestry, offers a haven for travelers seeking a luxurious escape. From the sun-kissed beaches of the Algarve to the historic streets of Lisbon, luxury travel in Portugal is a seamless blend of sophistication and authenticity. Discerning travelers can savor delectable Portuguese cuisine in Michelin-starred restaurants, where expert chefs display the nation's culinary prowess. The
renowned Douro Valley, famous for its terraced vineyards, beckons wine enthusiasts to indulge in private tastings and scenic river cruises. I spent two weeks when I traveled to Vietnam, and I also added Cambodia to my itinerary. I highly recommend indulging in everything that is offered. We rode by oxcart, tuk tuk, and bike peddled cart. We tried different food, visited several temples, and floated along the river. The cultural experiences and memories will last a lifetime.
The international destinations on the ultimate travel bucket list are vast. I have traveled to many of these or have planned for my clients. I highly recommend travel, not because I am a travel agent, but because I have been traveling for almost 40 years. Travel allows us to understand and experience other cultures. Not because we are there. We can experience a culture through their food, language, music, plays, and talking to the people. You can experience a destination through the sights and sounds of a place. They make an imprint on you and moves you to share your experiences with others. It provides you with knowledge of the world. I hope you are inspired by these destinations, and it moves you to
